With 4cm as the spacing,trace elements of 86 samples from Gaoxing red clay profile in Hengyang basin were analyzed. The results indicates that: (1) The contents of trace elements V,Ga,Th,Rb,Sr,Nb,Y, Ba,Cu,Pb,Cs,Zr,Mo and As present a change tendency of higher-low-the highest from the bottom to top of the profile. Taking 124cm as the boundary line,the contents of trace elements in the upper layer of profile are higher,and relatively lower in lower layers.
