Rewriting has become a familiar term to people of translation studies since it was introduced into China. But schol- ars tend to emphasize the aspect manipulated by ideology and power when they talk about rewriting in translation. On the basis of investigation of rewriting occurring on multi-dimensions of translation activity, the author argues that rewriting in translation, triggered by different intentions and constrained by many factors, appears in different forms.
