《红楼梦》中的各种粥体现了中国饮食文化的特色以。对于各种粥名,如何翻译才能达到理想的效果,使目的语国家的读者有效理解是译者必须慎重对待的。从目的论的角度探讨了杨宪益所译《红楼梦》中有关各种粥名的翻译,首先简单介绍了目的论,接着运用目的论分析了杨宪所译《红楼梦》中有关各种粥名的翻译,说明了杨先生的译文并没有达到最佳翻译效果。
