王船山自觉探索历史发展规律，采用史评的方法撰写历史著作并取得巨大成就。他寻找历史事件背后发生、发展、变化的原因，而不仅在于借鉴历史；他的史学既有对传统史学的继承，更有对史学的发展，在中国史学史上有着承上启下的作用。然而，由于他在历史发展动力方面仍然是天命观的神定论，所以他的史学从总体上还没有跳出中国旧传统史学的范畴。

Wang Chuanshan(1619-1692)quested actively for the development law of Chinese history,wrote lots of historical works and made great achievements in Chinese historiography.Apart from referring to historical literature,he probed history to find what had caused the occurrence,development and change of historical events.He inherited partly Chinese historiography tradition,but more importantly,developed a new historiography,which played somewhat the role of transition.However,he still took the viewpoint of destiny and held the theory that everything was controlled by God,...
