Voice loss is a common problem in college students’ English academic writing. In order to solve this problem, this study takes universities in Hunan Province as an example and conducts investigation and analysis by means of questionnaires and interviews. It finds that the absence of the concept of academic voice, the defamiliarization of academic genre and the lack of academic vocabulary are the main reasons for this phenomenon.
