Laws drawn from comparison between two languages can be instructive but lack universality. The present cross- linguistic investigation demonstrates that the different conceptualizations of adjectives in English and Chinese and their effects on syntax can be found in many other languages. The absence of certain semantic feature on conceptualization level will be manifested on syntactic level.
