通过对第28届雅典奥运会田径比赛的结果分析，总结当今世界田坛的实力新格局以及田径项目的洲际分布特征。运用文献资料、数理统计等方法，对第23届奥运会以来我国在奥运会田径项目所取得的成绩统计，以期发现我国田径的优势项目和潜优势项目，为我国备战2008年奥运会田径比赛提供参考。
