Photochromic dithienylethene (DTE) derivatives with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) performance are appealing for photoelectric functional materials and photopharmacology. However, they often have to be trig-gered by ultraviolet light to induce photoisomerization, severely limiting their potential applications in bio-logical systems.
