Supercritical carbon dioxide was used to extract pyrethrin from pyrethrum flowers. A procedure involvinga sudden pressure reduction was designed to break the cell wall of pyrethrum flowers, thereby reducing resistance tomass transfer. The influence of extraction pressure, extracting temperature, and extracting time on the yield and thequality of pyrethrins were investigated.
