Reaction of FeSO4·7H2O with 5-(isonicotinamido) isophthalic acid (H2INAIP) in the presence of NaOH results in the formation of a two-dimensional network [Fe(INAIP)(H 2O)]n·2nH2O. In the complex, each INAIP2- ligand links three Fe(II) atoms to give a doublechain structure using its two carboxylate groups in μ1- η1:η1 and μ2-η1: η1 coordination modes. The chains are interlinked to form a layer structure through Fe-N interactions, which it is extended to a three-dimensional supramolecular structure by H-bonding interactions.
