在我国,把物质文明和精神文明、经济社会协调发展作为重要方针,是可持续发展的必由之路.社会主义精神文明建设是可持续发展的必要条件,可持续发展是社会主义精神文明建设的内在本质要求.实施可持续发展战略,必须把精神文明建设提高到更加突出的地位.同时,还要加强生态文明建设,为可持续发展提供物质保障.

It is taken as a fundamental policy and the only way of the sustainable development to coordinativly develop the material and spiritual civilization as well as the national economy and the society. On the one hand the socialist spiritual civilization construction is the prerequisite of the sustainable development, on the other hand the latter is the intrinsic necessity of the former.
