摘要:
By using semiclassical theory combined with multiple-scale method, we analytically study the linear absorption and the nonlinear dynamical properties in a lifetime broadened Λ-type three-level self-assembled quantum dots. It is found that this system can exhibit the transparency, and the width of the transparency window becomes wider with the increase of control light field. Interestingly, a weak probe light beam can form spatial weak-light dark solitons. When it propagates along the axial direction, the soliton will transform into a steady spatial weak-light ring dark soltion. In addition, the stability of two-dimensional spatial optical solitons is testified numerically.

摘要:
We study the problem of sketch-based 3D model retrieval, and propose a solution powered by a new query-to-model distance metric and a powerful feature descriptor based on the bag-of-features framework. The main idea of the proposed query-to-model distance metric is to represent a query sketch using a compact set of sample views (called basic views) of each model, and to rank the models in ascending order of the representation errors. To better differentiate between relevant and irrelevant models, the representation is constrained to be essentially a combination of basic views with similar viewpoints. In another aspect, we propose a mid-level descriptor (called BOF-JESC) which robustly characterizes the edge information within junction-centered patches, to extract the salient shape features from sketches or model views. The combination of the query-to-model distance metric and the BOF-JESC descriptor achieves effective results on two latest benchmark datasets.

In order to study the characteristics of multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) channel, first, the basic components of the communication system are analyzed. And then, we present a simplified ray tracing method for optical MIMO system to obtain its channel impulse response and frequency response. This method using ray tracing to calculate the impulse of the channel limits the reflections within three times. Finally, its validity is verified by the numerical simulations, and its simulation results have been discussed. The channel bandwidth is gradually narrow, direct response is getting small, and the first response becomes large from the center to the corner. (C) 2013 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have many potential applications, while the performances of TMDs are generally limited by the less surface active sites and the poor electron transport efficiency. Here, a novel three-dimensional (3D) structure of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) with larger surface area was proposed based on first-principle calculations. 3D layered MoS2 structure contains the basal surface and joint zone between the different nanoribbons, which is thermodynamically stable at room temperature, as confirmed by first principles molecular dynamics calculations. Compared the two-dimensional layered structures, the 3D MoS2 not only owns the large surface areas but also can effectively avoid the aggregation. Interestingly, although the basal surface remains the property of the intrinsic semiconductor as the bulk MoS2, the joint zone of 3D MoS2 exhibits semimetallic, which is derived from degenerate 3d orbitals of the Mo atoms. The high stability, large surface area, and high conductivity make 3D MoS2 have great potentials as high performance catalyst.

It has been shown that two-photon parity check has widespread applications in optical quantum information processing. In recent years much effort has been made to implement nondestructive two-photon parity detection using cross-Kerr nonlinearity (XKNL) effect. We here put forward an XKNL-based scheme for nearly deterministic two-photon parity detection without destroying the photons, in which the required cross-Kerr phase shift could be much (even several orders of magnitude) smaller than that required for previous schemes. The scheme utilizes a ring cavity fed by a coherent state beam as a quantum information bus which interacts with one of the two path modes of two polarized photons through a cross-Kerr medium. The measurement outcome of the bus mode reveals the polarization-parity of the two photons.

摘要:
We address the impact of imprinted fading optical lattices on the beam evolution of solitons in strongly nonlocal nonlinear media. The results show that the width of the soliton experiences a change with the increasing propagation distance, the critical power for the soliton varies with the lattice fading away, and the soliton breathing is affected by the initial lattice depth and the nonlocality degree.

基于Dini级数展开, 导出了p(>0)阶准离散Hankel变换(the pth-order quasi-discrete Hankel transform based on Dini series expansion, pDQDHT)算法, 并给出了该算法在光束传输中的应用. 通过不同输入函数分别对pDQDHT算法进行测试及光束通过透镜传输的应用实例, 结果表明: pDQDHT算法不仅精度高于现有的Hankel变换算法, 可以进行多次正、逆变换, 能广泛应用于光束分步传输问题, 而且执行速度也与一般的快速Hankel变换算法相当.

We theoretically investigate the propagation of a paraxial beam in two-dimensional media with spatial dispersion. Based on the spatial dispersion theory and the ( 1+1)-dimensional paraxial wave equation, we get an expression which determines the diffraction of the beam. By fitting the dispersion surface of a typical spatial dispersion medium (a photonic crystal) calculated by the plane-wave-expansion method, the value of the diffraction term is determined, with which one can predict the diffraction of the paraxial beam that propagates in such media. Numerical simulations based on the finite-difference time-domain method confirm the theoretical results.

We propose a method to construct a nondestructive n-qubit Greenberger– Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ)-state analyzer. The method is applied to any systems in which two-qubit parity gates, controlled-phase gates, or controlled-NOT gates can be realized. We also present a simplified two-photon parity gate with which a nondestructive n-photon GHZ-state analyzer could be largely simplified. The nondestructive GHZ-state analyzer is expected to find useful applications for economical quantum-information processing.

摘要:
Propagation of a hollow Gaussian beam diffracted by a circular phase aperture is studied without making the paraxial approximation. The analytical expression of the intensity of the apertured hollow Gaussian beam is presented in the far field. The influences of the truncation parameter and the order of hollow Gaussian beam on the intensity distributions are discussed. It is shown that a circular IT-phase aperture can be used to transform a hollow Gaussian beam into a ring-shaped beam in the far field with the appropriate parameters. (C) 2012 Elsevier GmbH.
