Six dibutyltin aryloxyacetate complexes [(X-C6H4OCH2COO)(SnBu2)2(μ3O)(OMe)]2 (A1, B1), [(X-C6H4OCH2COO)2(SnBu2)2(μ3O)]2 (A2, B2), and [(X-C6H4OCH2COO)2SnBu2] (A3, B3) were synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR, HRMS, and TGA techniques. The molecular structure of complexes A1, A3 and B1-B3 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Complexes A1, B1, A2, and B2 are dimeric carboxylate tetraorganodistannoxanes, displaying a "ladder-like" molecular arrangement. The aryloxyacetate ligands in A1 and B1 adopt a monodentate mode, while they function as bridging coordination ligands in A2 and B2. Complexes A3 and B3 represent dibutyltin carboxylates with crystallographically imposed two-fold symmetry, with the aryloxyacetate ligands adopting a bidentate mode. Aryloxyacetic acids demonstrate a propensity for assuming various coordination modes, leading to the formation of diverse molecular architectures in organotin carboxylates. In addition, complex B1 exhibits polymorphism. Echinochloa crus-galli and Portulaca oleracea L. were used as target organisms for herbicidal activity testing using a petri dish method. It was found that they have a significant inhibitory effect on weed roots and stems at 200 μmol/L, and the structure-activity relationship analysis revealed the important influence of substituent types and complex structures on their activity.

Diorganotin acylhydrazone complexes with mitochondrial targeting demonstrate significant potential as replacements for platinum-based complexes due to their potent anticancer properties. Twelve methylphenyltin arylformylhydrazone complexes have been synthesized by microwave "one-pot" reaction. The complexes have been characterized by FT-IR, multinuclear NMR ((1)H, (13)C, and (119)Sn), TGA, and HRMS. Crystal structures were determined for 10 out of the 12 complexes under study. Structures 1 through 8, 10 and 12 possessed a central symmetric structure of a di-nuclear Sn(2)O(2) tetrahedral ring. All complexes were tested for their inhibitory activity against human cell lines NCI-H460, MCF-7, and HepG2. Complex 8 exhibited the most effective inhibitory effect on HepG2 cells, with an IC(50) value of 1.34±0.04μM. Preliminary studies on the anticancer mechanism suggest that complex 8 induces apoptosis in HepG2 cells via the mitochondrial pathway, accompanied by G2/M phase cell cycle arrest.

Many diorganotin complexes with various alkyl groups exhibit excellent in vitro anticancer activity. However, most diorganotin is the same alkyl group, and the asymmetric alkyl R group has been rarely reported. Hence, in this paper, twenty butylphenyl mixed dialkyltin arylformylhydrazone complexes have been synthesized by microwave "one-pot" reaction with arylformylhydrazine, substituted α-keto acid or its sodium salt and butylphenyltin dichloride. The crystal structures of nine complexes were determined, indicating that the complexes C1, C2, C11, C12, and C16∼C19 possessed a central symmetric structure of a dinuclear Sn(2)O(2) tetrahedral ring; while the complex C9 is a trinuclear tin-oxygen cluster with a 6-membered ring encased in a 12-membered macrocyclic structure. The inhibiting activity of complexes was tested against the human cell lines NCI-H460, MCF-7, HepG2, Huh-7 and HL-7702. Complex C2 demonstrated the optimal inhibitory effect on HepG2 cells, with an IC(50) value of 0.82±0.03μM. Cellular biology experiments revealed that complex C2 could induce apoptosis and G2/M phase cell cycle arrest in HepG2 and Huh-7 cells. The complex also caused the collapse of the mitochondrial membrane potential and increased intracellular reactive oxygen species in HepG2 and Huh-7 cells. Western blot analysis further clarified that complex C2 could induce cell apoptosis through the mitochondrial pathway along with the release of reactive oxygen species.

Six aroylhydrazone di-m-chlorobenzyltin complexes {[X-C(6)H(4)(O)C=N-N=C(Me)COO](MeOH)(m-Cl-C(6)H(4)CH(2))(2)Sn}(2) (X = p-Me- (1), p-MeO- (2), p-t-Bu- (3), p-NO(2)- (4), p-OH- (5) or o-OH- (6)) were synthesized and characterized by HRMS (high-resolution mass spectrometry), NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy), IR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), and TGA (thermogravimetric analysis) techniques. The molecular structure of complexes 1-6 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The structure of complexes showed a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal configuration around the tin atom center, and the ligands adopted a tridentate chelating mode. Fascinatingly, either one-dimensional infinite chain structures or two-dimensional network structures were observed in the complexes through hydrogen bonds. Complex 2 has the strongest inhibitory effect on MCF7 and HepG2 cell proliferation, its effect was superior to that of the positive control drug cisplatin. The interaction of ct-DNA (calf-thymus DNA) with complex 2 was explored using UV absorption (ultraviolet absorption) and fluorescence spectroscopy. Complex 2 exhibited a moderate affinity for ct-DNA through intercalation modes. The interaction of complex 2 with ct-DNA has also been supported by molecular docking studies.

Herein, we developed a highly selective, efficient, and simple method for direct transamidation of thioamides with amines, promoted by commercially available acetophenone under metal-/solvent-free conditions. The reaction tolerated a wide range of functional groups and substrates, including single- or double-thioamides, benzylamines, or alkyl/cycloalkyl-substituted aliphatic amines. The present protocol can be applied to gram-scale in good yields. In addition, the Pt-/Ni-complexes of double-transamidation products were obtained in good to excellent yields. The investigation of photophysical properties indicated that the fluorescence spectra of Pt-complexes showed an emission band centered at 550–750 nm and exhibited red fluorescence when irradiated by a UV lamp (365 nm).

Two tricyclohexyltin aryloxyacetates (C1, C2) have been synthesized by the reaction of tricyclohexyltin hydroxide with 1,3-phenylenedioxydiacetic acid (L1) or 3-(N,N'-dicarboxymethyl)aminophenoxyacetic acid (L2), respectively. The structures were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, H-1, C-13 NMR, and X-ray diffraction. The structure of complex C1 has been previously reported, C2 is a novel complex. The results of thermal stability analysis confirmed that the two complexes contain solvent molecules, so they can only exist stably below 70(o)C. The results of herbicidal activity showed that C1 and C2 had moderate growth regulation effects on Alfalfa.

Two dinuclear trialkytin aryloxyacetates were synthesized by the reaction of 1,4-phenylenedioxydiacetic acid with bis(tributyltin) oxide and bis[tri(2-methyl-2-phenyl)propyltin] oxide, respectively. The structures were characterized by IR, H-1, C-13 NMR, and X-ray crystal diffraction methods. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the complexes possess good thermal stability in air atmosphere. Herbicidal activity results showed that the complexes showed some ability to regulate the growth of crops.

Five diorganotin complexes were synthesized through the reactions involving benzoyl hydrazine, sodium phenylpyruvate, and the respective dialkyltin compounds. All complexes underwent comprehensive characterization employing various techniques, including infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 119Sn), high-resolution mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, X-ray single crystal diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis. The structural analysis revealed that the ligands in the complexes adopted a tridentate chelating mode. In order to assess their potential as antitumor agents, the complexes were subjected to an in vitro evaluation using the Cell Counting Kit-8 assay. The results indicated that C2 exhibited enhanced efficacy, suggesting its suitability for further chemical optimization and potential application in cancer therapy. Molecular docking was employed to predict the binding mode between complex and DNA. To gain insights into the interaction between C2 and DNA a series of experiments, including viscosity experiments, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, and gel electrophoresis were conducted. The findings consistently demonstrated that C2 interacted with DNA via intercalation.

Two organotin aryloxyacetate were synthesized by the reaction of 1,2-phenylenedioxydiacetic acid with dibutyltin oxide and tricyclohexyltin hydroxide. The structures were characterized by IR, H-1, C-13 NMR, and X-ray crystal diffraction. Herbicidal activity of the prepared organotin aryloxyacetate was evaluated.

Dibutyltin benzoin benzoyl hydrazone complex I [C6H5(O)C=N-N=C(Ph)CH(Ph)O](2)[(n-Bu)(2)Sn](2) and dibutyltin benzoin salicyl hydrazone complex II [2-(OH)-C6H4(O)C=N-N=C(Ph)CH(Ph)O](2)[(n-Bu)(2)Sn](2) were synthesized and characterized by IR, H-1, C-13 and Sn-119 NMR spectra, FIRMS, elemental analysis and thermal stability analysis, and the crystal structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. The crystal of complex I belongs to monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/n with a = 11.1942(8), b = 10.4754(7), c = 23.6700(17) angstrom, beta = 101.529(2)degrees, Z = 2, V = 2719.6(3) angstrom(3), D-c = 1.371 Mg.m(-3), mu(MoK alpha) = 0.966 mm(-1), F(000) = 1152, R = 0.0458 and wR = 0.1312. The crystal of complex II is of triclinic system, space group P-(1) over bar with a = 9.9960(4), b = 11.2466(4), c = 14.0509(5) angstrom, alpha = 69.4190(10)degrees, beta = 70.0600(10)degrees, gamma = 81.8090(10)degrees, Z = 1, V = 1389.69(9) angstrom(3), D-c = 1.380 Mg.m(-3), mu(MoK alpha) = 0.950 mm(-1), F(000) = 592, R = 0.0284 and wR = 0.0690. In vitro antitumor activities of both complexes were evaluated by CCK8 method against three human cancer cell lines (MCF7, NCI-H460 and HepG2), and complex II exhibited better antitumor activity than I. The interaction between complexes and calf thymus DNA was studied by UV-vis, fluorescence spectroscopy and viscosity measurements.
